Media Consumption in November

MEDIA CONSUMPTION IN NOVEMBER   -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Movies / Shows I Watched This month I watched all of The Hangover movies, and it was honestly one of the most chaotic and entertaining things I binge watched. The first movie was definitely the best the storyline felt fresh, the humor actually made me laugh, and the whole mystery of "what happened last night?" kept me invested. I liked the cast's chemistry and how unpredictable everything was. However, watching the sequels back-to-back made them feel a little repetitive. A lot of the jokes felt recycled, and the plot didn't hit as hard as the first one.     I also watched Unsolved Mysteries , which was a completely different energy. I enjoyed the thrill of real cases and how each episode kept me guessing, but sometimes it got heavy, especially when the endings had no closure. The suspense was great, but after a few in a...

Film Opening

Image
FILM OPENING BRAINSTORMING! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A film opening that inspires my idea is the beginning of "Sharp Objects" (the HBO series). I like how it introduces different characters separately but uses quick flashes, objects, and visual clues to show that they are connected by something darker underneath. It doesn't explain everything right away, it builds tension through atmosphere, close-up shots, and details that don't make sense at first but become important later. For the film opening about three girls who don't know each other but are connected to something that happened , our group wants to use a similar style. We want to show each girl in her own environment, with small hints that link them, like matching objects, sounds, or flashes of the same event, so the audience starts putting the pieces together before the characters do. ----------------------------...

Final Music Video

Final Music Video  -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Watch our final video here:  -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- What Worked Overall, our music video turned out really well. The idea of showing a friendship falling apart through small, emotional moments worked exactly how we imagined. The cafeteria scene was especially effective; it showed the distance between the characters without needing a lot of dialogue. Our use of lighting and camerawork helped a lot too. The bright but dull tones made the main character's loneliness stand out, and the handheld shots in the flashbacks made those memories feel more real. Everyone in our group worked together well and shared ideas to make sure the story matched the mood of Billie Eilish's "TV." --------------------------------------------------------------------...

Music Video Progress Shot List Idea

Image
MUSIC VIDEO PROGRESS -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This week, our group focused on planning out one of the main scenes for our music video, the  cafeteria scene . In this clip, the main character walks into the lunchroom and sees her old friends talking and laughing together, but they're clearly avoiding her. It's a simple moment, but it shows a big emotional shift in their friendship, which connects perfectly to the lyrics of "TV" by Billie Eilish. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- For mise-en-scene , we decided to use a realistic school cafeteria setting since it fits the story. We want to make sure the lighting feels bright and normal at first, but a little washed out to match the lonely mood of the main character. The friends will be sitting close together, and she'll be standing a bit apart,...

Music Video

MUSIC VIDEO! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- For our music video project, we decided to do "TV" by Billie Eilish . We chose this song because it's really emotional and talks about growing apart from people you care about. The lyrics and slow tone fit perfectly with the story we want to talk about friendship changing over time. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Our idea starts with three girls sitting together watching TV. They're laughing and having fun, and it feels like a close friendship moment. Then the TV suddenly goes to static , and that's when the video shifts to show how their friendship starts to fall apart. One of the girls falls in love, and that slowly creates distance between her and the others. The rest of the video will go back and forth between good memories and the moments that ca...

Media over the month of September

WHAT I'VE BEEN UP TO IN THE MONTH OF SEPTEMBER! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------   BRAINROT  I've consumed a LOT of TikTok's including those strangely addictive Chinese kid/bunny/frog edits. This month, I realized my For You Page has been fully taken over by the "kid with the bunny and frog" TikTok's. At first, I thought they were just goofy little clips with cute animals... but after what we learned in class, I can see how technical techniques are being used to hook me. For example, the videos use rapid editing and jump cuts to keep attention before I even think about scrolling away. The bright color saturation of the frog, bunny, and kid's outfits make the clips pop visually (almost like a cartoon). The producers (or whoever is editing these) also use upbeat non-diegetic music that doesn't always match the video, which creates humor through contrast. It's ba...

Project Research

Exploring the Thriller Genre -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- INTRODUCTION For my project, I chose to explore the thriller genre . I was drawn to thrillers because they are some of the most suspenseful and thought-provoking films ever made. Unlike action or comedy, thrillers keep you on the edge of your seat by building tension, creating mystery, and exploring the psychological side of characters. I enjoy how thrillers constantly make you question what will happen next and often end with surprising twists. Through my research, I learned that thrillers have a long history. In the early 20th century, directors like Alfred Hitchcock shaped the genre with suspense classics such as Psycho (1960). Later, thrillers expanded into different forms like psychological thrillers ( Taxi Driver ), crime thrillers ( The French Connection ), and supernatural thrillers ( The Sixth Sense ). Today, films like Donnie Dark...
